Mediated Type and Typographic Systems

This semester, we’ll be looking at the ways typography works within a system and as a system. We’ll also look at mediation and type—the way type can be shaped by its creation or reproduction, and the way type can be used to shape our experiences.

We’ll create systems to organize text and images, we’ll create typefaces as systems, we’ll look for ways to vary type within systems. We’ll look at lettering and custom typography, we’ll modify, combine, and create type, and we’ll look at type in the world.

And we’ll continue to expand our basic typographic knowledge. We’ll deepen our Indesign and Illustrator knowledge. We’ll look at type history. And more.
